Summary

Part 1: Encrypt SD Card

The SD card cannot be accessed easily under password protection. For Android users, they can encrypt the SD card through Settings on phone, or BitLocker in the computer.

Part 2: How to Decrypt SD Card

1. Decrypt SD Card on Android

If you encrypt the SD card on an Android phone, you can follow the same path to decrypt the SD card. Take Samsung Note 9 as an example.

① Tap on [ Settings ] – [ Biometrics & security ].

② Scroll down the screen and select [ Decrypt SD card ].

③ Tap on [ Decrypt SD card ] again and type your passcode or PIN code to decrypt the SD card.

2. Decrypt SD Card with Diskpart Command

Through this method, all data will be emptied , including all of the partitions, volumes and information in the SD card. You need to recover the deleted data with the method introduced in the next part .

Step 1: Insert the SD card into the card reader and then connect the reader to the computer. Search [ cmd ] in the search bar. Then, right click on [ Command Prompt ] and select [ Run as Administrator ].

Step 2: Next, write these command one by one. Press the Enter key after writing a command.

diskpart

list disk : Check all of the disks in the computer and find out the letter of the target SD card.

select disk 1 : 1 is the letter of the SD card

clean : Clean all of the volumes, partitions and information in the SD card. It is noted that the information is merely marked as deleted, but it can be recovered.

After entering the [ clean ] command, continue to write these commands to create partitions:

create partition primary size=n “n” means the capacity of the partition. As shown in the below picture, “3000” is indicated to 3000MB. This value can be set to the maximum capacity of the SD card. Besides, write the command [ assign letter = H ] to set the letter of the partition as “H”.

format fs=fat32 label=”FAT32” “fs=fat32” means that the file system of the SD card is FAT32. Also, the file system can be exFAT or NTFS. “label” is indicated to the properties of the partition, such as “system”, “local disk” or “FAT32” in this case.

exit Exit the program.

Through these steps, we can decrypt the SD card. Next, you can use the following method to recover the lost data.

2. How to Use Renee Undeleter?

Here are the steps about how to recover the deleted video from the SD card with Renee Undeleter:

Step 1: Download and install Renee Undeleter. Open the software and select [ Whole Partition Scan ].

Note: Don’t install the software into the source disk in case that the data is overwritten, unable to be recovered.

Functions of different recovery modes:

• Fast partition scan – Recover the files after emptying Recycle Bin or deleted by mistake without data backup.

• Whole partition scan – Scan the whole partition and list all files, especially for the formatted partition or inaccessible issue.

• Whole disk scan – Scan entire disk to find out all partitions’ information and simulate the partition table.

• Image creation – Create a partition image which can be used in case that reading partition is slow or need a backup.

Step 2: Next, select the SD card and click on [ Next ] to go on.

Step 3: Wait for the scan and then select the target files to recover. Click on [ Recover ].

Note: Please save the recovered files into the folders in case that the original disk is overwritten.
