GoPro is action camera featured as small size, light weight, well water resistance and clear image. It can be used to shoot motion videos, such as surfing, riding and parachuting. In addition, the GoPro company develops its own mobile apps and video editing software.
If you meet with the errors in your GoPro camera, such as “NO SD” and “SD ERR”, the following situations will be the reasons:
1. The SD card reads and writes data slowly. A minimum of Class 10 is recommended for a GoPro SD card.
2. The SD card contacts are not clean. It should be cleared gently.
3. The firmware version of GoPro is outdated and incompatible with the new SD card. You should go to the official website and update the firmware.
4. The SD card has been used in the other cameras or devices. You should reformat the SD card before using in this GoPro.
If the GoPro SD card errors cause data loss, you should use the following methods to recover the data.

Step 2: Next, select the SD card and click on [ Next ] to go on.
Step 3: Wait for the scan and then select the target files to recover. Click on [ Recover ].
Note: Please save the recovered files into the folders in case that the original disk is overwritten.
Step 4: Select the destination to save the files that are to be recovered. Finally, click on [ Recover ] to recover the files.
Note: Don’t save the recovered files in the original SD card. Otherwise, the files may cover the original data in the SD card. If you cannot recover the data in this easy, try [ Whole Disk Scan ] for the further scan.
First, you should check the connection between the SD card and GoPro when the errors “NO SD” and “SD ERR” occur. Please ensure that the SD card is completely inserted into GoPro. ① Format the SD card in GoPro when you see the SD ERR error.
Step 1: Press the mode button until the tool icon appears. Then, press the top button of the camera to get into Settings. Next, press the mode button to switch the setting options until the dust bin icon appears.
Step 2: Press the mode button to switch the [ ALL/FORMAT ] options and then press the top button to continue. Next, use the mode button to select the option [ DELETE ALL? ] and then [ YES ]. Finally, press the top button to confirm the operations to format the SD card.
② Format the SD card in the computer when the NO SD error appears.
The NO SD error means that GoPro cannot recognize the SD card. You should take the SD card out and then connect it to the computer with the card reader.
Step 1: Insert the SD card into the card reader and then connect the reader to the computer. Copy and paste the SD card data to the other disks.
Step 2: Open [ File Explorer ] and then right click at the SD card. Select [ Format ].
Step 3: Select a file system.
Note: FAT32 and exFAT are the file systems supported by GoPro. FAT32 is used for the SD card with the maximum of 32 GB and exFAT for the SD card over 32 GB.
Step 4: Click on [ Start ] to format the SD card.
If the GoPro SD card errors cannot be solved, you should try to fix the SD card or change another SD card. All GoPro models need the SD card with minimum of Class 10 . The HERO (2014) camera supportS the SD card with maximum size of 32 GB. The cameras, such as HERO 3 Black Edition, HERO 3+, HERO + and HERO + LCD support the 64 GB SD card. What’s more, the cameras, such as HERO 4 and HERO Session, support the 128 GB SD card.
