On an Android phone, you may see the notification saying that SD card is damaged and try reformatting it. Here are the possible reasons and the solutions to the corrupted SD card on Android.
● Eject the SD card improperly.
● The SD card file system is damaged.
● The SD card is frequently accessed and cleared.
● The file system of the SD card is not FAT32 or exFAT.
● The SD card is accidentally removed when data is being transferred to the card.
● The SD card is incompatible with the SD card. For example, the phone merely supports the SD card up to 32 GB, but you insert a 64 GB SD card into it.
After learning about the reasons of the corrupted SD card on Android, you should save the SD card data and then try to fix the card.
Tips When you see the notification saying that SD card is damaged and try reformatting it, you should stop using the SD card and eject it from the phone. Next, you should read the SD card in the computer and transfer the data to the disk. If the SD card cannot be accessed, you should recover the data before fixing the card. Of course, the formatted SD card can be recovered as long as the data is not covered by the newly written data.

Note: Please save the recovered files into the folders in case that the original disk is overwritten.
Step 4: Select the destination to save the files that are to be recovered. Finally, click on [ Recover ] to recover the files.
Note: Don’t save the recovered files in the original SD card. Otherwise, the files may cover the original data in the SD card. If you cannot recover the data in this easy, try [ Whole Disk Scan ] for the further scan.

Steps:
Step 1: Insert the SD card into the card reader and then connect the reader to the Windows computer.
Step 2: Open [ This PC ]. Then, right click at the target SD card. Select [ Properties ] – [ Tools ] – [ Check ].
Step 3: Click on [ Scan drive ]. If errors are found, you can get the computer restarted and fix the SD card. After that, insert the SD card into the Android phone again and check if the problem is solved.
Formatting SD card can solve many problems and change the file system supported by Android, such as FAT32 and exFAT. If the SD card is not shown up in File Explorer, you should format the SD card in [ Disk Management ].
Steps:
Step 1: Insert the SD card into the card reader and then connect the reader to the Windows computer.
Step 2: Try to get access with the SD card and copy the inside data to the other disks.
Step 3: Open [ This PC ] and right click at the SD card. Select [ Format ].
Step 4: Select a file system. If the SD card is not over 32 GB, FAT32 will be the suitable file system while exFAT is used for the SD card over 32 GB. Click here to know more about the file systems.
Step 5: Click on [ Start ] to format the SD card. After that, insert the SD card into the Android phone and check.
As long as the SD card is not physically damaged, and it can be recognized by the computer, you can use the CHKDSK command to fix the logical errors. It is noted that all SD card data be emptied during this process. Please back up the data beforehand.
Steps:
Step 1: Use the card reader to connect the SD card to the computer.
Step 2: Then, search [ cmd ]. Right click at [ Command Prompt ] and select [ Run as administrator ].
Step 3: In Command Prompt, type the command [ chkdsk f:/f ] (f: is the letter of the SD card and /f is the fixing parameter). Next, press the Enter key to fix the SD card. Exit the program as it is finished.
